Feeling a bit uninspired and overwhelmed I decided to move some of my gear out of the office area and back into my bedroom. I'm trying to write music again. For the 4000th time. Think I want to do something a bit dancy, maybe some kinda electrohousetechnochiptune[tm]

Ramble ramble. What's sitting around me mow:

A NES with wayfar's midines and a few outputs direct from the chip. prosound mod for the nes if you will.

Elektron Monomachine

Monome

Laptop and spare p.o.s. monitor

Alesis Micron (for a MIDI controller)

NI's Audio 8 DJ / Traktor FS

Generic but nice Stanton SA-3 2 Ch Mixer

Vestax VCI-100

The reason for so many controllers? I'm experimenting with a live setup. Had an idea earlier this year about putting together a dj set with live sequences and performance on top of typical hyperactive mixing.

Maybe I'll start posting some audio clips or videos soon. Sooooo out of practice of both electronic music and djing. Moo.

New Website!

Yay, yet another new website. I swear I've must of had at least 10 redesigns by now...

As the story goes back in 2005 my site was exploited due to postnuke and phpBB. At the time I was working too much so I had no time to either repair the code or make a site from scratch.

Technical Rant

Meanwhile.. for the past 2 years I've spent my time coding, rethinking, coding again, a rapid application framework dubbed "Muon." It allows me to create a database driven website in a fraction of the time and handles backend processes such as automagically generating, updating, repairing database tables, as well as forms, lists, and queries [blah blah blah]. Furthermore its designed to handle multiple clients & sites with their own needs and features.

This site is a simple example of what Muon can do. I built the site from the ground up in just a few days. It took longer entering in tags and data then programming the backend.

Yes, I know, theres Ruby on Rails and PHP Cake and Zope and [...]. All of which didn't fit the bill. Ruby on Rails is slow on performance, PHP Cake is not cake, and Zope is a mess. Furthermore I don't believe in MVC for websites, the model & controller are fine, but what happens when your running multiple client applications that require different view but the same logic & model? Do you duplicate code? (yuck) Do you add templating (MVTC anyone?!) It just doesn't make any sense to me.

...

So enjoy the site. I'm still adding content and tags, and be sure to get my podcast & blog rss if you never want to look at this homepage again.
